One of the first things that I tackle with my health coaching clients in my 90-day intensive Total Body Transformation intensive is an exercise I call “ Clear the Clutter.” We work on clearing kitchen counters for easier food prep, clearing schedules to make room for new healthy behaviors, clearing toxic relationships to surround ourselves with people who can hold us to our vision of our healthiest selves. Out with the old to make room for the new. As you can imagine, sometimes this clearing and cleansing can be annoying or even uncomfortable. Yet on the other side is spaciousness, freshness and a sense of possibility.

Detox elimination cleansing of the body is another powerful way to “clear the clutter.” Physical toxins build up within our bodies, disabling our ability to digest and use beneficial nutrients. There is a deluge of toxic chemicals in our world today. Toxins find their way into our body through the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water we drink. We also ingest foreign chemicals when taking pharmaceutical drugs, or when using alcohol or tobacco.

And here’s the rub: although the body is designed to be self-cleaning and to excrete these toxins, in reality it often can’t handle the overload present our environment.  I used to scoff at the idea of cleanses, especially when they seemed extreme or trendy. But now I’ve learned how toxins can damage our nutrient absorbing intestines and even get into our blood and lymph systems I truly believe in the benefits of an elimination cleanse.

By “elimination,” I am talking about abstaining from certain harmful foods for a certain amount of time AND also about moving waste through the digestive system and skin effectively. To avoid the symptoms of toxic overload and effectively reset the body it is important to keep all of the body’s channels of elimination open and functioning well.

Symptoms of toxic overload: 

  • Headaches • Nausea • Constipation • Diarrhea • Belly bloat • Painful gas • Frequent belching • Joint and muscle aches • Muscle tension • Soreness or cramps • Itching • Acne • Warts or other skin eruptions • Inability to concentrate • Foggy brain • Irritability • Depression • Mood swings • Cardiovascular irregularities • Weight gain or loss • Insomnia • Fatigue • Lethargy • Flu-like symptoms • Allergic reactions including hives, stuffy or runny nose, sneezing, and coughing

Here’s the good news: the 14-Day Elimination Cleanse which I am leading soon will help you overcome these symptoms and also identify which foods might be problematic for your unique body. The cleanse, done in a group coaching method, will consist of three phases.

PHASE ONE: PRE-CLEANSE PREP (2 DAYS) The Pre-Cleanse is about making the commitment setting your intentions, shopping for cleanse friendly ingredients, and beginning to ease your body into the full cleanse, mentally, emotionally and physically.

PHASE TWO: CLEANSE (7 DAYS) During the cleanse you will follow the simple elimination diet plan and body practices to relax and detox.

PHASE THREE: RE-INTRODUCTION (5 DAYS) In the Re-Introduction phase, you will re-introduce foods back in to your diet one by one to identify food sensitivities and intolerances and create a maintenance diet that best serves your unique body.

Also included will be three group coaching calls with me (optional, of course) and a private Facebook group to provide support and structure to the experience. Each participant will be given a beautiful manual which can be used for future cleanses, too.
