Wow!  I don’t even consider myself a blogger per se, but I was nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award!  The dear Kirsten Akens, who is one of my RootEd tribe and very thoughtful writer, nominated me. Thanks, Kirsten.

The guidelines for this award are as follows:lovely-blog-award-logo

  • You must thank the person who nominated you for the award;
  • you must add the One Lovely Blog Award logo to your post, your blog or both;
  • you must share 7 facts about yourself;
  • and lastly, you must nominate 15 bloggers who you admire and consider “lovely.” Let the nominees know they have been nominated by commenting on their blogs.

Okay, seven facts about myself:

1) I was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, then moved to Damascus, Syria.

2) Piddling around the house doing housey stuff is one of my favorite past-times.

3) I still have the favorite stuffed-animal that I’ve had since in utero.

4) Sometimes I get huge hankerings for kale, salmon and lemon water…and then wonder what nutritional deficiency this points to?

5) One of my favorite places on earth is Black Rock Desert in Nevada during the week of Burning Man (which is now, and no, I’m not blogging from there).

6) I have a (not so) secret crush on a local musician, who shall remain nameless.

7) The only bumper crop in my “garden” this year were the jalepeno peppers. Cool, but how many does a single gal really need?

As for my nominations, I am going to publish them in three stages, of five featured bloggers each. The first five are writers who are personal friends of mine, and who’s writing I deeply respect.

An Honest Mom: My friend Stephanie’s candid blog is one of the very few parenting blogs I can stomach. And not only do I stomach it, but I relish it every time she publishes a new post. Parents and non-parents please enjoy.

Cultivate Clarity: Ever since she was my college roommate, Becca has been expressing herself to me in a jovial, thoughtful and wise-woman way. Now she continues to do so through this very lovely blog.

(Un)becoming Human: Although this blog hasn’t been updated in a looooong time (Jessica!) the words of my yoga teacher Jessica Patterson are always invaluable and timeless.

6512 and Growing: Rachel reports on the ever-changing oddities of raising a family on her semi-urban homestead in Sw Colorado (including being a “grandmother” to nine baby mice).

Ellen Kaye Yoga: One of the many things I love about Ellen is her ability to be so real and transparent, and yet always so graceful. Take a read, and also try to catch one of her Denver-based yoga classes.

…. Stay tuned for the next five bloggers soon!
